Privacy.
NotchCafe has no analytics and doesn’t use your microphone or camera. Your notes, file shelf, and preferences stay on your Mac. Here is everything that does leave it, and why.

In the NotchCafe app
Trial and license
Starting a trial or activating a license contacts 24hr.cafe over HTTPS with a NotchCafe-specific device identifier. Credentials are stored in your Mac’s Keychain. The app refreshes its license online at least once every seven days. Our server stores hashed device credentials and activation records, not your notes, files, or music history.
Updates
When NotchCafe checks for updates, it downloads the update feed and installer from GitHub.
Music
Music controls use macOS Automation, which you approve for each player. For YouTube in Chrome or Safari, NotchCafe runs scripts only on youtube.com and music.youtube.com. Album artwork for Spotify and YouTube is fetched directly from their image servers, without cookies, and kept only in memory; those services see the request and your network address. Apple Music artwork is read locally.
Lyrics (optional)
While the Lyrics card is selected, the current track’s title, artist, album, and duration are sent to LRCLIB to find a match.
Weather (optional)
If you grant foreground location access, NotchCafe sends an approximate location to Open-Meteo over HTTPS for current conditions and keeps the result in memory. There is no background location tracking.
Calendar (optional)
With Calendar access, NotchCafe reads upcoming events on your Mac for countdowns and the agenda. Event details aren’t sent to us.
Full-screen YouTube
When you open the full-screen YouTube player, YouTube loads directly in the app. Google’s privacy policy applies. Your browser login isn’t shared.
Notes and file shelf
Notes and file references are stored locally in NotchCafe’s app preferences. They aren’t encrypted, and the shelf stores references to your files, not copies.
On 24hr.cafe
Website insights
We count page views, download clicks, and checkout clicks per day, along with the referring website’s domain. We don’t use analytics cookies, visitor identifiers, or full URLs. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected, and counts are kept for 90 days.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. We store order and payment references, encrypted license keys, and activation records. After checkout, a private receipt cookie lets the same browser retrieve your license key for 30 days.
Browser demo
The homepage’s YouTube player loads from youtube-nocookie.com only after you choose to load it.
Hosting
The website runs on Vercel, and license records are stored in a Neon Postgres database.
